Anthony Dalton, M.D., formerly of Tennessee Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics in the greater Nashville area, relocated his practice to the Cookeville area in October of 1999. He has now relocated his practice to Smithville, Tennessee. Dr. Dalton graduated Cum Laude from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, and completed medical school at Creighton University Medical School in 1975. He served his residency and internship programs at the University of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as well as completing a Hand Preceptorship with George Omer, M.D., renowned hand surgeon and textbook author. Dr. Dalton is Board Certified by both the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and the Arthroscopy Board of North America.

He has a keen interest in Occupational Medicine and is currently pursuing his Masters in Medical Management degree. He is a member of multiple national medical associations including his being a Fellow of the American College of Physician Executives, American Back Society, American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society. He is a member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine, and the Omer Hand Society. Dr. Dalton is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a Fellow of the American Academy of Disability Evaluating Physicians.

He was one of the selected few nationwide to be invited and accepted as a member into the National Institute of Sports and has been designated as a Certified Sports Physician. He founded the Wisconsin Back School while in Wisconsin to accommodate failed back syndrome patients, as well as to provide an educational forum for industry to prevent industrial back injuries.

He has served as the Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery for the Occupational Medical Clinics of America in the Milwaukee area servicing over 3,500 employers with Worker’s Compensation injuries. Dr. Dalton has been a featured speaker and instructor nationally regarding such topics as sports medicine, joint replacement, minimally invasive back surgery, healthcare reform and other contemporary orthopaedic issues.

Dr. Dalton’s primary office location is in Smithville, Tennessee but is on staff at hospitals in McMinnville and Woodbury, Tennessee in addition to Dekalb Community Hospital in Smithville.
